Global Billiard Mfg. Blends Craftsmanship And Quality To Meet Customer Needs ABOUT US
Scandinavians by birth, Global founders Torben and Solveig Gramstrup came to Los Angeles in 1957 and in short order landed jobs at Acme Billiards, the only billiard manufacturer east of the Mississippi River at the time. Within five years the couple formed their own company making commercial and home tables; and by the early 1970s became a competitive force in the market manufacturing 18 models in four sizes with 12 different finishes. During the late 1970s and early 1980s Global looked to diversify by producing a coin-operated table for the amusement market. The first model, the Challenger, was a basic style table, not unlike other coin tables of the time. Ever a design stylist, Torben chose to follow up that release with a more upscale coin table, the Old Timer, which combines the flare of a home table with the needs of coin machine operators. Today, Global manufactures six coin-op and two commercial models in a modern facility located 20 minutes from both the Los Angles/Long Beach Harbors, and Los Angeles International Airport. |
